     Joseph D. Ball was born on 14 November 1843 at Chautauqua Co., NY.² He was the son of James C. Ball and Julianna A. (????)¹ Joseph D. Ball married Augusta Florence Smith, daughter of Thomas S. Smith and Julia A. Scott, on 25 December 1867 at Decorah, Winneshiek Co., IA.¹ Joseph D. Ball died on 16 January 1923 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN, at age 79.¹ He was buried at Concord Cemetery, Concord, Dodge Co., MN.¹
     Joseph D. Ball enlisted 21 April 1861, responding to the call for three-month troops. He was assigned to Company A, McLean's Erie Regiment, and was stationed at Pittsburg during his first term. On the expieration of the three months he re-enlisted as a member of Company G, One Hundred and Fiftieth Pennsylvania Infantry, known as the Pennsylvania "Bucktails," or sharpshooters. This was in August 1862 and he was mustered into service at Harrisburg, Pa. The first engagement of the regiment was at Fredericksburg, which was followed by the battle of Chancellorsville and that most important battle of the war, Gettysburg. There mr. Ball was wounded by a shot entering his right arm. He recovered at a hospital in Philadelphia and was then placed on detached duty in Washington as an Orderly until he was honorably discharged on 29 June 1865.³ From an obituary: Ball, Joseph D., age 79 years, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at his residence, 3105 20th Ave. S. He is survived by his wife, one son, D. T. Ball, one daughter Mrs. E. L. Smith of West Concord, and one brother N. M. Cross of St. Charles, Minn. He was a veteran of the Civil war and a member of the G. A. R.¹

     Sarah Emily Lonie was born on 9 April 1854 at WI.² She was the daughter of Thomas Lonie and Sarah Hesselgrave.² Sarah Emily Lonie married Jeptha Anton Ball, son of James C. Ball and Julianna A. (????), circa 1873.¹ Sarah Emily Lonie died on 20 November 1918 at Troy, Winona Co., MN, at age 64.¹ She was buried at Saratoga Cemetery, Saint Charles, Winona Co., MN.¹
     As of circa 1873,her married name was Ball. From an obituary in the "Winona Independent": Mrs. Sarah Ball past away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Henry Cole, south of Troy on Tuesday after a lingering illness at the age of 60 years. Funeral services were held at the Saratoga Church on Thurs. afternoon. Burial at Saratoga Cemetery beside her husband and one son Jesse, both having died some time ago. Those who remain to mourn the loss are three daughters, Mrs. Henry Cole of Troy, Mrs Will Smith of Washington, Mrs. Root Nesbit of Winlock, Washington, and three sons, Fred of St. Paul, David and Ray who resided on the home place south of St. Charles.¹

     Frederick Burton Ball was born on 24 May 1874 at Saratoga, Winona Co., MN.¹ He was the son of Jeptha Anton Ball and Sarah Emily Lonie.¹ Frederick Burton Ball married Anna J. Nesbit, daughter of William Nesbit and Mary (????), on 26 November 1896 at Winona Co., MN.³ Frederick Burton Ball married Myrtle Brown, daughter of Rolf R. Brown and Nancy D. (????), before 1918.^4,3 Frederick Burton Ball died on 30 July 1931 at Ramsey Co., MN, at age 57.¹ He was buried at Saratoga Cemetery, Saint Charles, Winona Co., MN.⁵
     He registered for Selective Service on 12 September 1918. His residence was St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN. He was a locomotive engineer for the Chicago Great Western Railroad. He was of medium height and slender build with grey eyes and dark brown hair.⁴

     Jesse C. Ball was born on 5 January 1876 at Saratoga, Winona Co., MN.¹ He was the son of Jeptha Anton Ball and Sarah Emily Lonie.¹ Jesse C. Ball died on 8 July 1897 at Saratoga, Winona Co., MN, at age 21.¹ He was buried at Saratoga Cemetery, Saint Charles, Winona Co., MN.²

     Flora E. Ball was born on 9 May 1880 at Saratoga, Winona Co., MN.¹ She was the daughter of Jeptha Anton Ball and Sarah Emily Lonie.¹ Flora E. Ball married Robert B. Nesbit, son of Thomas V. Nesbit and Isabella (????), circa 1898.¹ Flora E. Ball married Eli B. Jones say 1927 at WA.^1,2 Flora E. Ball died on 15 July 1966 at WA at age 86.¹ She was buried at Winlock Cemetery, Winlock, Lewis Co., WA.¹
     As of circa 1898,her married name was Nesbit. As of say 1927,her married name was Jones.

     Robert B. Nesbit was born circa 1875 at MN.¹ He was the son of Thomas V. Nesbit and Isabella (????)² Robert B. Nesbit married Flora E. Ball, daughter of Jeptha Anton Ball and Sarah Emily Lonie, circa 1898.¹ Robert B. Nesbit died on 28 June 1922 at WA.² He was buried at Winlock Cemetery, Winlock, Lewis Co., WA.¹
     Robert B. Nesbit also went by the name of Root.¹

     Edward T. Nesbit was born circa 1899 at MN.¹ He was the son of Robert B. Nesbit and Flora E. Ball.¹ Edward T. Nesbit died in 1916 at WA.¹ He was buried at Winlock Cemetery, Winlock, Lewis Co., WA.¹

     Mildred Eva Nesbit was born on 4 February 1903 at MN.¹ She was the daughter of Robert B. Nesbit and Flora E. Ball.¹ Mildred Eva Nesbit married Arthur M. Wilson, son of C. H. Wilson, circa 1921 at WA.¹ Mildred Eva Nesbit died on 26 August 1998 at Bremerton, Kitsap Co., WA, at age 95.¹ She was buried at Winlock Cemetery, Winlock, Lewis Co., WA.¹
