Ball, daughter of Isaac Ball and Margaret Emmaline Robbins, on 18 January 1885 at Portland, Multnomah Co., OR.1 David Turner died on 13 March 1948 at Columbia Co., WA, at age 86.1 He was buried at Dayton City Cemetery, Dayton, Columbia Co., WA.2
David Turner was also known as Jefferson Davis.2 From an obituary: Dave Turner, pioneer resident of Columbia county died in the local hospital, Saturday, at the age of 86. Mr. Turner was born in Sadailia [sic], Missouri, January 8, 1862. He came to the Oregon country with his parents when they crossed the plains in a covered wagon in 1865. After the death of his mother he came to Columbia county with his father at the age of 13 and has continually made this county his home since. He followed farming all his life, after being married to Margaret M. Ball, January 18, 1885 in Portland, Oregon, and taking up a homestead on what is now known as the Hogeye.
Survivors are his widow, Margaret m. Turner, and these children, C. F. Turner, Arbon, Idaho; Mrs. Roy Randolph, Ben Turner and Harry Turner, Dayton; Mrs. Roy Crall, Waitsburg; Mrs. Zella Groves, Tacoma; Forest O. Turner, Toppenish; Mrs. Reade Abel, Dayton; Geo. Turner, Spokane; L. T. Turner, Paradise Valley, Nevada; 22 great grandchildren and 23 grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Mary Abels of Rosalla.1

From an obituary: Mr. Turner passed away Saturday, March 5, at the VA hospital in Walla Walla following an extended illness. He was born May 29, 1889, in Columbia county, the son of mr. and Mrs. David Turner. His grandparents had homesteaded in the county in the mid-1850s. He attended Baldwin and Lone Pine rural schools. In 1910 he homesteaded in southern Idaho near American Falls. During World War I, he served in the mounted cavalry and saw service in Siberia with the AEF. For the last 30 years of his working career, he was a plumber in Dayton. He made his home on South Cottonwood.
Members of the family include three sisters, Mrs. Roy (Aneta) Crall of Olympia, Mrs. Zella Groves of Tacoma and Mrs. Reade (Daisy) Abel of Dayton; three brothers, Harry H. Turner of Dayton, Forest Turner of Coos Ball, Oregon, and Lovette Turner of Phoenix, Arizona; and nieces and nephews.1 Newspaper photo courtesy of Diana Mount.1
