Joanna Taylor was born on 28 February 1845 at Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., IN.2,3 She was the daughter of Andrew Taylor and Janet (????)4 Joanna Taylor married John Sanford Ball, son of John Ball and Harriet Blake, on 3 November 1866 at IN.5 Joanna Taylor died on 16 July 1887 at Lincoln, Logan Co., IL, at age 42.1 She was buried at Union Cemetery, Logan Co., IL.6
As of 6 November 1866,her married name was Ball. From an obituary in the "Lincoln Times": Mrs. Joanna Ball, wife of J. S. Ball, died last Saturday at her residence on Kickapoo Street, aged forty-two years, fourn months, and sixteen days. The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon, Rev. M. W. Everhart, Pastor of the M.E. Church, of which church she was a member, conducting the services. A large concourse of friends andrelatives were present and evidenced their sympathy for the bereaved and their love and respect for the deceased. The body was interred in the Hough Vault at the Union Cemetery. The remains may eventually be taken to Mishawauka, Ind., to be interned permanently in the family lot.
