     John Ball was born on 22 June 1812 at Northborough, Worcester Co., MA; Comment by DGB: Although the compiled birth records for Northborough (i.e., compiled long after those events) shows his birth as " son of John Ball and Eunice his wife" and "born July 22nd A. D. 1812", it is more likely that he was born a month eariler on June 22, 1812, the same day of the death of his father's first wife, Hannah (Pierce) Ball. End of comment.2 He was the son of John Ball and Hannah Pierce.1 John Ball married Harriet Blake on 9 September 1833.1 John Ball died on 29 April 1885 at Unionville, OH, at age 72.1 He was buried at Monroe Street Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH.3
     They resided for a short time in St Albans, Vermont, but located in Cleveland, Ohio about 1835. He was captain of steamers on the Great Lakes.1
