     John Ball was born on 22 June 1812 at Northborough, Worcester Co., MA; Comment by DGB: Although the compiled birth records for Northborough (i.e., compiled long after those events) shows his birth as " son of John Ball and Eunice his wife" and "born July 22nd A. D. 1812", it is more likely that he was born a month eariler on June 22, 1812, the same day of the death of his father's first wife, Hannah (Pierce) Ball. End of comment.² He was the son of John Ball and Hannah Pierce.¹ John Ball married Harriet Blake on 9 September 1833.¹ John Ball died on 29 April 1885 at Unionville, OH, at age 72.¹ He was buried at Monroe Street Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH.³
     They resided for a short time in St Albans, Vermont, but located in Cleveland, Ohio about 1835. He was captain of steamers on the Great Lakes.¹
