     Minnie Ellen Ball was born on 2 January 1887 at Lennox & Addington Co., ON, Canada; Note: the 1901 census lists her birth date as 19 December 1886.¹ She was the daughter of Frederick Philip Ball and Nancy Jane Gregg.²

     Joseph T. Ball was born on 21 February 1805 at Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph T. Ball and Mary Montgomery Drew.³ Joseph T. Ball died on 20 September 1861 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, at age 56.² He was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.²
     Joseph T Ball was baptized in the summer of 1832 by either Brigham Young or his brother Joseph Young who served a mission to Boston. Ball later went on mission with Wilford Woodruff, in New England, New Jersey. In 1837, Wilford Woodruff records in his journal that Ball was an Elder. Ball was the Boston Branch president from October 1844 to March 1845 – the largest LDS congregation outside of the Nauvoo area. He was ordained a High Priest by William Smith (the first African American HP) and was sent to Nauvoo by Parley P. Pratt in the spring of 1845 to work on the temple and then receive his endowments. Ball did go and work on the temple, but then he and William Smith apostatized around August 1845 and Ball never was endowed because the temple didn’t open until December 1845.²

     Joshua Dorsey Ball was born on 11 July 1828 at Baltimore, MD.^1,2 He was the son of Walter Ball and Mary Ball.³ Joshua Dorsey Ball married Emily A. Cole, daughter of William Cole and Bethia Snow, on 10 July 1856 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.² Joshua Dorsey Ball died on 18 December 1892 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, at age 64.^4,5 He was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.^1,5

     Walter Ball was born on 26 September 1795 at Anne Arundel Co., MD.¹ He married Mary Ball on 14 September 1815.¹ Walter Ball died on 25 September 1863 at Baltimore, MD, at age 67.¹

Cole married Joshua Dorsey Ball, son of Walter Ball and Mary Ball, on 10 July 1856 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.² Emily A. Cole died on 1 December 1894 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.³ She was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.³

     She was a student Boston Mus. Fine Arts; later Acad. Colarossi and Atelier Collin, Paris; pupil of George Hitchcock, in N. Holland. Exhibited in Paris Salon 4 times; Soc. des Dames Americaine, Paris; New York, Pittsburgh, Boston, Phila., Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, New Orleans, etc.¹
