     Comment by DGB: The identification of the first wife is a guess but it does combine a Franklin Ball of the right age and birthplace with a recent wife born in Ireland. In addition the 1910 census confirms that Franklin had married twice End of comment.

     Clara I. Ball was born on 23 June 1846 at Renssalaer Co., NY.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of John Pratt Ball and Nancy Slocum.¹ Clara I. Ball married Henry J. Harrington on 7 December 1869.¹ Clara I. Ball died in 1926.⁴ She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, Renssalaer Co., NY.⁴
     As of 7 December 1869,her married name was Harrington.

     Emma Janette Ball was born on 6 July 1840 at Valley Falls, Rensselaer Co., NY.^2,1 She was the daughter of John Pratt Ball and Nancy Slocum.² Emma Janette Ball married Worthington Gregory, son of John Ely Gregory and Jane Briggs Barber, on 23 July 1861.² Emma Janette Ball died on 29 August 1908 at Manchester, Bennington Co., VT, at age 68.¹
