     He served in the regular army in the Civil War.² From the records of Regular Army Infantry Regiments: "Bern B. Denniston" (an alias for Berne B. Ball), Corporal in Company C of the2nd US Infantry, was listed as a prisoner of war 2 June 1864.      Cyrus Ball was born circa 1782 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ.¹ He was the son of Daniel Ball and Anna Carter.² Cyrus Ball married Sarah Cook, daughter of Ellis Cook and Isabelle Davis, on 3 November 1802 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ.¹ Cyrus Ball married Martha Cook, daughter of Ellis Cook and Isabelle Davis, on 25 November 1809 at Newark, Essex Co., NJ.¹ Cyrus Ball died on 9 February 1813 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ.¹

     Martha Cook was born on 19 August 1784 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ.² She was the daughter of Ellis Cook and Isabelle Davis. Martha Cook married Cyrus Ball, son of Daniel Ball and Anna Carter, on 25 November 1809 at Newark, Essex Co., NJ.² Martha Cook married Phineas Beach, son of Stephen Beach and Patience (????), on 23 October 1825.¹ Martha Cook died on 2 March 1847 at Hanover, Morris Co., NJ, at age 62.²

     Noah Ball was born on 8 July 1781 at Jefferson Village, NJ.² He was the son of Uzal Ball and Rebecca Hedden.^1,3 Noah Ball married Fanny Edwards, daughter of Aaron Edwards, on 9 February 1806.² Noah Ball died on 24 January 1865 at NJ at age 83.² He was buried at South Orange Cemetery, South Orange, Essex Co., NJ.⁴
